Day Trading For Dummies Part 1: Risk Capital To Get Started In Day Trading
You’re probably not a dummy at all outside of day trading, so let’s help you lose the Day Trading For Dummies tag as quickly as possible.
Let’s start with how much money you need. After all, no matter how intrigued or enthusiastic you may be about making 0k+ each year as a day trader, you need a few dollars to get off the ground. It takes money to make money, as the old saying goes.
And if you have the necessary risk capital available (risk capital means money you can afford to lose, not money you need to pay for the mortgage or your kids’ education), then the rest is simple.
Remember: risk capital means money you can afford to lose. No exceptions! If it’s gone, it’s gone and you’re still putting food on the table, living in your current dwelling, and otherwise paying all the bills. If you break this rule you’re guaranteed to fail in day trading.
So how much capital is enough?
I day trade futures contracts myself. I feel you’ll need at least ,000 in risk capital available, (preferably ,000) to execute most futures trades with your own money. You might make 0k in your first year by starting with ,000 but it’s unlikely. Therefore I recommend ,000 as a starting point if you’re truly serious.
And if you’re into stocks, you’ll need even more capital unless you’re day trading penny stocks. A small account limits you to trading the higher dollar cost stocks and that’s not good. Also, there isn’t as much leverage in stocks as in futures, which also restricts how much you can make.
Of course, you can get some leverage by day trading options on stocks. This will cut down your capital requirements. But ,000 is still the minimum you should be committing. Otherwise you’re just too vulnerable to getting eliminated from the day trading game before you even get started.

Day Trading Online – Winner’s Portrait Part 1
Most that trade futures have the capacity to develop winning styles . Of course , most cannot resist deviating from their styles that usually help them win . The winner sticks to a winning style realizing that this can take some perseverance and patience . Learning from a day trading online, a winner has the resilience to continue waiting for the perfect opportunities for which his style is tailor-made . The winner is a controller first . He loves to focus on the loaded trades . He’ll come up with a paper list of reasons he should make a trade. A winner realizes that there are very few sure thing trades the best trades are never overlooked by him and he sits tight on good positions . That discipline pays off!
He admits he is fallible , but taking a turn is his intent and doing it doesn’t include an easy way. Sound fundamentals are thoroughly assessed by him . In many cases , he will talk about all the market aspects he is involved in . A winner can smell fear and will act ruthlessly . He analyzes the human element of the market .
His style is magnificent . He is serene, peaceful, possibly quiet . He may look bored on the outside . (He probably is). His eyes twinkle . He enjoys people and life . But , be careful if you interfere with his plan or get too close to him – to try to get information out of him , or an idea of what he’s doing , – to ask his opinion of the market ,- what will occur! See what happens if you try to bug him . Otherwise he’ll try to shower you with his glimmering ambience. These are the signs of a day trading online graduate.
He has learned to recognize and develop his behavioral skills . He possesses the tremendous self-control needed to over-ride the sterile habits developed and rehearsed for many years .
They are practical. During a vacation they’ll never hold a position . They occasionally exit from the market to check on profits, look at the situations again, and get some rest. He learns the success’ cause (not his failures). He records its perseverance . He knows that the winning style pays off. He knows his place in his environment and he controls it . He realizes that huge profits can be earned by people who take the big risk of going against opinions that are universal . He is leery of bucking trends , but also realizes the opportunity it presents . He’s aware of when he should strike , – striking with L analysis of his own and the reaction of the market to fundamentals. He outguesses the price changes of tomorrow, [PL charting], because they usually depend upon the news of tomorrow or the news that is anticipated;- weather changes, strikes, or a newly released crop estimate. His discipline and awareness results in a low aversion to risk . A day trading online show’s that he’s practical . You don’t need to share that people with low aversion to risk, whether they are pessimistic or optimistic, are the most likely to make a profit.

Karl Marx, part 6: The economics of power | Peter Thompson
Marx is often accused of reducing humans to mere expendable specks of matter within the greater economic scheme of things Having so far concentrated on philosophy and politics we now turn to what was the major part of Marx’s output, namely the economics. But it is in the economics where his political philosophy begins to take on real form. There is not space enough here to cover the enormous …
